Love This Girl

I just love this girl.  She was enjoying saying cheese during and after bath.

On a different note...they've been studying families at daycare. I love this picture Kathryn "made" of our family.

ABC's...Easy as 123

I don't think there is another feeling that comes close to when you see your child learning things for the first time.  We read with Kathryn all the time and she absolutely loves books, but we haven't been stressing letters with her.  So, Jared and I were pretty suprised when tonight, while we were all playing in her room, she pointed to the block letters hanging on her wall and said "R".  We took down the letters and she pointed to the R and said it again.  She did the same thing with the Y.  Then we showed her the T and after a few tries, so she got it. She was doing great and it amazed me because we haven't worked much with her.  I'll have to ask Becky at daycare if she has.  Kathryn was so excited about the letters, she even took some to bed with her.  I think we'll start working with her a lot more now because she loved it.  She's also able to to count to five.  I think that's pretty great for being 21 months old.  I just love that girl and how excited she gets when she's learning something new.

On a different note, she insisted on wearing a tutu to daycare today.  She took one for her buddy, Kate too.  Becky said she wore it all day.  She still had it on when I picked her up.  She cracks me up.

Trying to play catch up, here's a picture of Jared doing Kathryn's hair the other day.  I thought it was very sweet and he actually did a great job.

Flowers

Our neighbors, Al and Helen have the most beautiful flowers in their front yard.  Kathryn and I took a walk over this morning before heading to Renee's son, Dominic's baptism.  I'd hoped she would be more cooperative, but we got a few cute ones.

She's afraid of bees!

Brooklyn Fair 2013

We went to the Brooklyn Fair today.  I believe there's a post from about a year ago on this same topic.

Like the senior citizens we think we are, we got there early, around 10am.  It was great because we got a good parking spot and it wasn't crowded.  We went last year and were anxious to take Kathryn this year because we thought she'd be more interested in the animals now.  She wasn't.  She didn't seem interested in them at all.  Maybe next year.  She was more interested in running around and she LOVED listening to a band that was performing, Branded.  She was dancing and the singer even called her out saying, "Look at that cutie dancing!"  Everyone started watching us and smiling at her.  It was so cute.  Jared got a video with his phone that I'll try and link to later.  I just love how much she loves music and the smiles she brought to everyone's faces was priceless.

We only stayed about an hour and a half.  We had Italian sausage for lunch and I bought some salt water taffy, which, I'm ashamed to say, is almost gone.  I have such a weakness for that stuff.  We got Kathryn an Elmo balloon on the way out, which she has been playing with all day.  She loves it.  It was a fun day.  I can't wait to take her again next year.
Kathryn with her Elmo balloon.  She just loves it.

Hanging out with my girl.

This was us at the fair last year.  Look how much she's changed. She was still a baby here.  She wasn't even walking yet.  I wonder how she'll look next year.

21 Months Old

Kathryn is 21 months old today!  Where has the time gone?  She is such a blessing in our lives.  Here are some random shots I took of her today.
Kathryn wanted to play bubbles outside before dinner.  The lawn needs a good mow!

The joys of bubbles!

Daddy and Kate walking out to her swing set.

We had corn, chicken and pasta for dinner tonight.  She was happy!

And this is proof she isn't always so happy...just most of the time.

She looks like Gollum form Lord of the Rings here.  My precious!

Playing bubbles after tub time with Wickett.

The zoo...a.k.a. our house.

She wanted to climb under her table toy.  Silly girl.

She loves her Wickett.

She's been doing this silly stance lately.

Last day of vay-cay

Today is the last day of summer vacation.  Tomorrow I return to real life and it sucks.  I dropped Kathryn off at daycare around 9am and then went to Kohl's to find some pants for work.  I had great luck there.  I actually saved $130!  Anyway...I was done by 10am and I decided I wanted Kathryn with me on this last day of break.  I could've vegged out, but for some reason I really missed her.  She was playing outside when I pulled up to Ms. Becky's.  She loves it there.  She was playing in the cozy coupe and then with chalk.  She said she didn't want to go home, but when I started to leave, she changed her mind and she came home with me.  We didn't do much except go to the grocery store and watch some TV while we played, but I just wanted her with me.  I love that girl.

Just hangin' out with my favorite girl today.
Didn't she look cute today?  Every time she's worn this little jumper, she's had poop leak on it. Not today though!

Too good to be true

I posted this on Facebook, but I wanted to document it here as well.  I seriously think Kathryn is going to be a wild child when she gets older because she's just too easy right now and always has been.  Tonight at bedtime, we had read about four books, then she stopped me and said, "Bed."  I put her in her crib and tucked her in.  As I was walking out of her room, she looked up and me and in the cutest sing-songy voice, said, "Bye!"  She was just so content.  I love that she feels safe and content in her room.  It makes our lives so much easier.  She did the same thing at nap today.  I keep expecting the shoe to fall, but it hasn't yet.  She is so amazing.  I have no clue how we got so lucky.

On a side note, I painted her toenails for the first time today.  She was sitting on her potty and she kept pointing to my toes. I started painting hers and she just sat there.  They look very cute. I'll try and get a picture tomorrow.

The Band...Please!!!

The obsession with The Fresh Beat Band, or "The Band" as Kathryn calls it, is getting worse.  The other night I recorded how excited she gets when she wants to listen to it.  So darn cute.

Stay tuned tomorrow for a video of us trying to get her to listen to other music.  She wanted no part of it!

Stopping by to say hi

After I picked Kathryn up from daycare, she wanted to say hi to Pegi.  We walked over, Kathryn rang the bell and Pegi came out. We visited for a while and Kathryn had a blast just checking things out.  One the way back to our house, she wanted to go down her slide.  She's such a riot.

**This was supposed to be posted yesterday, but for some reason, it didn't go through.
