Let's Call Her Bruiser

Yesterday was a bit of a rough day for Kathryn.  At daycare, while sliding on the slide, she slid into Olivia's knee and got a nasty bruise under her eye.  Then, when I got her home she was running around the house with a pair of pajama bottoms and she slipped.  She started crying and I originally thought she was just scared, then I looked down and saw she was bleeding pretty good.  Her top teeth had cut her lip.  She cried for a bit, but then was okay.  She's a tough cookie.
Her bruise and fat lap.  You can't really see the lip well in this picture, but it's the best I got.

This is her Skyping with Gangy.  She gets so happy when she sees Gangy.

A Writer Perhaps?

Kathryn LOVES to "type" on the computer.  Whenever she sees an open laptop she runs over and starts typing on it.  I wonder if she'll like writing like me.  Only time will tell.  I can't wait to share my stories with her someday.  It won't be for a very long time, but maybe someday.

15 Month Check Up

Kathryn went for her 15 month check-up today.  It's hard to believe she's already 15 months old!!!  She was in such a happy mood and she was smiling and laughing and saying hello to everyone in the waiting room.  She just wanted to jump, jump, jump!  Unfortunately, her great mood was hampered by her shots. :-(  She was a trooper though and only cried for a little bit.  Here are her stats:

Height: 33 inches (95th percentile)
Weight: 22 lbs. 1.5 oz. (50th percentile)  She used to be in the 25th, so she's catching up a bit!
Head: 48 cm (between the 50th and 75th percentile)

She's happy and healthy and we're so grateful for that!

New Things

Kathryn's doing lots of new things lately...being whiney is one of them.  I know it's just part of growing up, but my Honeybaby has turned into Cry Baby.  It's not too bad, I'm just not used to it.

On a more positive note, she's starting to recognize body parts.  It's started with her "button" (a.k.a. her belly button).  She pulls up her shirts and points and laughs.  We say, "Where's your button?" and she finds it.  She likes to find mine too. Mine's an innie, hers is an outie, so she's kind of entranced with mine.  She likes to stick her finger in it.  Tonight I asked where her nose was and she pointed to mine and hers.  She also pointed to my ear.  I know Becky at daycare's been working with her on that and I guess she's catching on!  I love watching her learn new things.

Kathryn also has a "boyfriend".  Kathryn loves Becky's son, Digby.  He's probably 10 or 11 and she just adores him.  She walks around saying "Digby, Digby", although it doesn't quite sound like Digby. It's more like "Did dee".  She walks around with pictures of him at Becky's.  It's so cute.

I had the day off of work yesterday.  I took Kathryn to daycare so I could just have a day to myself.  I love spending time with Kathryn, but I also need a break sometimes and I can't recall the last time I've had a day to myself.  I got lesson plans done and I got do some writing, which is always my favorite thing to do.  I love getting in a groove and just writing and writing.  I'm working on a story that Katie and I came up with when she came out to visit a couple of years ago.  I'm having fun with it.

I also recently took some pictures of me and Kate together.  We don't have enough. I love this girl.

Random Pictures

I take so many pictures, it's hard to put them all into a category, so here's just a random sampling over the past couple of weeks.
Playing with her new shopping cart.

Playing with her kitchen.

Channeling Don King

She looks so grown up here.

Valentine's Overalls

Kathryn's Neena gave her some adorable overalls for Christmas. I remember opening them on Christmas morning and thinking they were the cutest things I'd ever seen.  They were 18 month though, so I knew it'd be a while till she could wear them.  Well...Valentine's Day was last Thursday and I pulled them out of the closet and they fit perfectly.  It was a great outfit for Valentine's Day.  She looked so cute.

Bein' Silly After the Bath

Kathryn loves to look in the mirror after her bath.  I figured since it's such a big part of her bath routing, I'd try and take some pictures of our ritual.  We make silly faces and she laughs, however, we usually don't have a phone in the mirror with us taking pictures.

Blizzard of 2013

Well, we appeared to have survived the Blizzard of 2013 or if you live in Connecticut as we do, we survived Blizzard Charlotte.  The rest of the country is referring to it as Nemo though.  I'm happy to say we never lost power, so the blizzard was rather enjoyable since we could stay holed up in the house.  I got some good video (posted below).  One of the storm last night, one of Jared diving into the snow and one of Kathryn trekking down the road this morning as we went to check out all the white stuff.  I think tomorrow we'll go out and make a snowman!

Dance, Dance, Dance

Kathryn has been doing so much dancing lately.  Her favorite songs seem to be "Hall of Fame" by The Script and "I Am" by Vinyl Hearts.  I just hope she has some rhythm, unlike me.  I promise, more dancing videos will come.

Eyes of An Angel

I love Kathryn's beautiful blue eyes.  I still can't believe she got the Nugen blue eyes.  Her hair is coming in nicely too.  She's been wearing a headband lately. I can't believe she's getting so big.

Gotta Get That Door Fixed!

I was videoing Kathryn dancing today and she got a big surprise when she walked in to see her father. I can't stop laughing about it.  I love the fact he had no idea I was taping.
