Bekki and Adam's Visit!

We were so lucky to have Bekki and Adam come visit us for a few days.  We were so excited to have them here and, of course, the time went by too fast.  We had a lot of time and laughed a lot.  We mostly hung out, but on Saturday night we went to Boston to a Red Sox game.  It was a lot of fun!  We made way too many Seinfeld references and ate too much, but that's okay.  I always love having people come visit, but once they leave, it reminds me how much I hate being away from family.  I hope we can see them again soon.

Someone's in a Pickle!

Kathryn was in all kinds of mischief today.  I think she was tired because she didn't have a morning nap.  I took her to the doctor instead to make sure she didn't have another ear infection. (Luckily she was okay.)  Anyway...I was trying to pick up the kitchen when I heard her crying from the entryway. I walked in and she had managed to get herself stuck on the piano bench.  I got a hilarious video of it, but it's not posting for some reason, so until I can post it, pictures will have to do.

On a side note, I spent three hours at the ER tonight with the absolute worst migraine I've ever had. I feel so much better now though. I'm so glad I went.

Easter Pictures

Easter may have been a few weeks ago, but I'm just now posting her picture with the Easter Bunny (which didn't go very well) and the one good picture we got when we took her to Sears to get pictures in her Easter dress.  I love this picture.

Gangy!

Kathryn often has "conversations" with Gangy, even when Gangy's not on the other end of the phone.  She'll use any device necessary (iTouch, plastic phone, etc.) to have these conversations.  This morning she was very excited during her conversation.  Of course, I didn't get the camera on time, so what I caught isn't nearly as exciting as what she was doing before I took the video.  She was shouting, "Gangy! Gangy! Gangy!"

Mischief

Kathryn is into EVERYTHING lately.  She's been called a "monkey" and "wild thing" at daycare.  Jared said the other day, "I wonder if there are any documented cases of the terrible twos starting six months early?"  I assured him our daughters wasn't that bad at all.  We're just used to a perfect angel.  Lately she's been spitting out her drinks and thinking it's hilarious.  We've gotta find a way to put the kibosh on that!  She also loves taking all the shoes out of my closet and all the bibs off her changing table. She's a crazy girl!

Kitty!

Kathryn LOVES kitties.  Unfortunately, our kitty, Sophie, doesn't particularly like her.  She's not mean, she just runs away whenever she hears Kathryn coming, shouting "Key!"  I wanted to get her a stuffed kitty and when I was at the education store on Monday, I found a simple white cat, that was half price.  She loves her new kitty.  It's the first toy she seems to really love.

Book Obsessed

Kathryn's obsession with books just keeps getting stronger.  She just loves to look at books.  Like I mentioned previously, her favorite is "Before I Go to Sleep".  She practically throws it in our faces to get us to read it.  Well, the past few days she has really taken a shining to a nursery rhyme book our neighbor, Pegi gave Kate for her birthday.  We were reading it while Skyping with Gangy and Gangy and I sang "Baa Baa Black Sheep" to her.  She smiled so big and wanted us to keep doing it. We Skyped again tonight and Gangy started singing it.  Kathryn stopped and immediately started looking for the book.  She found it and opened right to the page with "Baa Baa Black Sheep" on it and climbed up into the chair to read it.  She even tries to sing it, but it only comes out as "baa baa baa baa".  It's so cute.

Same Time, Same Book

We found Kathryn in the chair again with the same book.  She really loves it.

A Girl and Her Books

Everyday Jared and I are amazed at how much Kathryn loves books.  Her favorite book right now is called "Before I Go To Sleep".  Tonight at bed time, she ran to her bedroom, picked it up and handed it to me.  We had to read it four times before she was satisfied.  She'd get so sad each time I'd put it down.  Before that though, while making dinner, we couldn't find her.  Jared went to her room and she'd climbed into the rocker and was reading her favorite book.  She loves kitties and this book has one it, so she's always on the lookout for the "key" as she calls it. I hope she always loves books.

Kate Loves Books!

Kathryn loves books so much.  She is content just looking at books.  She's started handing books to us to read with her.

Treasures

Some people may not understand my excitement about family history.  Some people do get it (Colleen!).  I was beyond excited when my dad asked if I wanted the journals that belonged to my Great Grandma Zella Swonger-Williams.  I couldn't wait to see them and the arrived today!  I was so excited to read them and get to know her.  She died when I was around 10 and she always seemed to serious to me.  I didn't know her that well, but that was my impression.  I haven't had a chance to read a lot, but from what I've read, it's so interesting seeing what her daily life was like.  Two entries stand out so far: Dec. 4, 1941 and Aug. 14, 1945, the day Japan surrendered.  It's fascinating to me!  I don't get how people don't know what a treasure these are.  They span from 1938-1975.  She wrote almost every day. Talk about dedication!  I can't wait to scour through them!

Announcement of Japan's surrender.

Entry from Dec. 7, 1941 (Bombing of Pearl Harbor).

Blowing Kisses

Someone's started blowing kisses!

Oops.  I posted the wrong video. Here's the blowing kisses video.

Piggie Tails

Ever since Ms. Becky at daycare put her hair in pigtails, it's my favorite way to keep Kathryn's hair out of her eyes.  She's in a bit of an awkward phase right now.  It's fine and wispy, but she's got a good deal of it. I was using barrettes, but they weren't staying in.  The piggie tails work great.  I'll get better pictures, but until then, my cruddy camera pics will have to do.

A Girl and Her Shoes

The littlest things make Kathryn happy.  She pulled my sneakers out of the closet yesterday and has been fascinated ever since.  Whatever makes her happy...

By the way...these were taken on a different day than the previous post.  She has three fleece pj's we rotate through.
