Today was a good day...

Kathryn's been a bit of a pill lately and I've been stressing about Jared being away for three weeks, but today she was wonderful.  She's been getting better naps at daycare and it shows.  She was so much fun tonight, with just a few incidents of her being 2 1/2.  If only she could behave like this everyday!

Mommy Timeout

I'm hijacking the Honeybaby blog for a moment to document something in my life.  The month of April was truly amazing for me in regards to my writing.  I released the sequel to my book, Last Train Home and Far From Home (the second book) did amazingly well!  Not that money matters, but I made some serious dough and more importantly, I had lots of people contacting me asking when the third and final book would be released.  I released Carry Me Home last night and I'm so excited.  It's been such a fun series to write and I'm sad that it's over.  However, it makes me feel so good that so many people love it.  Makes me want to keep writing!

It seemed like a good idea...

Jared's been in Arizona since Tuesday for Ben's graduation. He gets home tonight,  but leaves tomorrow for Virginia for 2 weeks. Pegi has been a godsend this week. She's been picking up Kathryn from daycare so I can go to the gym after work.  I don't know what I'd do without that woman. She's a saint and we love her!

I digress though. We stayed inside all day yesterday and I did some cleaning. I decided we'd go to the West Thompson Dam for a nice walk this morning since Kathryn was stuck inside yesterday. She was very excited to go and it started out nice. However,  it didn't stay nice for long. It was torture.  It took us almost 2 hours to go 2 miles. She was crying and whining about everything.  She kept stopping and refusing to move.  She started screaming when I'd try and carry her.  It was the longest 2 miles of my life.  We will not be going back for a very long time!

I seriously don't know how I'll survive the next 2 weeks.

Her hair sums up the whole experience.

Mother's Day

Last Sunday was my third Mother's Day.  Kathryn's been asking to go to the beach lately, so we granted her request and headed out to Rocky Neck Beach in East Lyme.  She's been kind of a stinker lately and seemed more excited about just rocking around than playing in the water.  She played a little in the sand, but we only stayed about an hour and a half and then headed to "five-nine", or the 99 as the rest of the world calls it.  I do love being this girls mom.

Pretty Blue Eyes

Kathryn was being extra cute tonight while she was helping me do the dishes.  I had Jared get the good camera because the phone camera just wouldn't do.  I may be biased, but I think she has some of the prettiest blue eyes I've ever seen.  I love the way she looks at me.  I'll miss that someday.

Beach Dreams

Kathryn put on her sunglasses this morning and told me she wanted to go to the beach.  I would've preferred that to going to work too, but it's inspired a trip to the beach this weekend.  Hopefully she'll like it when she gets there.

Princess Kate

Kathryn found a tiara and some jewels the other day.  She looked gorgeous!

Derby Day!

Yesterday was the Kentucky Derby.  For the 4th year in a row, we've gathered between ours and Pegi's houses.  It was much smaller than usual, but we still had fun.  California Chrome, who Pegi had, won and Danza, who we had, came in second.  Kathryn loved hanging out with some of her favorite people: Pegi, Al, Helen, Rick, Dee, Danielle and Chris.
