Watching the Sea Planes

Before my Misty Fjords flight, Jared, Kathryn and I watched the sea plane activity.  All the float planes were one of my favorite aspects of Ketchikan.

Where's Kathryn?

Last night Kathryn kept hiding behind my craft cabinet and running out when we asked where she was.  It was so cute. Of course, she didn't do an animated once we had the camera out, but still, you get the gist.

Misty Fjords

I was lucky enough to take a float plane to the Misty Fjords while in Alaska.  It was truly a breathtaking, awesome experience.  It was almost spiritual too.  I am a nervous flyer, by for some reason I wasn't all that scared taking this flight.  I was scared when we went into some thick cloud coverage with these huge granite mountains on either side of us. I swore we were going to just smash into the side of a mountain.  The pilot was so relaxed though and makes that trip multiple times a day.  Luckily, we survived and it was incredible.  We stopped on a lake in the middle of the fjords and it was so peaceful, knowing not one person lived anywhere near it.  As I looked around, I wondered how anyone could not believe in God after seeing the beauty of the fjords.  I am so glad I did it.  The only negative thing was my memory card was corrupt, so half of my pictures didn't come out.  At least it wasn't a complete wash and some pictures did come out.

Our stop in the fjords.

Settler's Cove

On Thursday after Jared and Derek went fishing (where they caught lots of salmon...I'll post some of those pictures later), we went hiking at Settler's Cove.  It was spectacular.  It was probably one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.  It looked like a magical fairyland and I loved it.

Someone didn't want her picture taken.

Ward Lake and Totem Bight

On our second day, Derek took us to Ward Lake and Totem Bight.  Of course, it was beautiful and on our hike around the lake, I thought I'd be cool and swing from a tree off a rope.  Needless to say, I misjudged the height and I basically fell like a sack of potatoes.  I tried to play it off, but it hurt.  You can see the video of it by going to this link:

Anyway...it's not pretty, but the pictures are.
