Well, after months of waiting, our Alaska trip finally arrived. We got home today after taking the red-eye and it's great to be home (Kathryn was amazing on the trip there and back, even though she pooped in the tub tonight, but that's another story entirely). The trip was awesome though! I fell in love with Alaska during our week there. It's beautiful and the people are nice. We did so much and I seriously loved it. It was also great to see Derek, Teana, Colleen and especially Lydia. She is such a sweet, well-mannered baby. She smiles a lot and has the cutest cheeks and bright eyes. We also got to spend time with Teana's cousin from Idaho, Kerri, which was fun. So, I'll begin with the some pictures from our first day.
We left for Boston at 5:30am and our flight left at 9am. We got into Ketchikan at 3pm (a 4 hour time difference). Derek greeted us at the airport and then led us to the ferry to get to the other side. I was in awe from the start. It was nice and cool and the mountains were unlike anything I'd ever seen. We even saw a bald eagle just sitting there on the ferry ride over. It was awesome. We went to Derek and Teana's and got to meet Lydia. We hung out for a while and then Derek took us to the hotel we stayed at the first four nights. It was a fishing lodge called Cedar's Lodge. It had an amazing view of the water, boats and float planes. The view was great, but the fish workers were kind of loud as they processed all the day's fish. We eventually learned to live with it and rely on white noise to help.

First glimpse of Ketchikan on the ferry. Taken with my cell phone unfortunately. |

It took us a while to adjust to the time change. The first night we went to bed around 8pm (midnight east coast time) and woke up around 4:30am. By the end of the trip, we were almost on a normal schedule.
We did so much while we were there. We went sightseeing, Jared went fishing, and I went on a tour of the Misty Fjords. I'll do a separate post for each of them to keep them separate and so I can focus on each one.
