Treasures

Some people may not understand my excitement about family history.  Some people do get it (Colleen!).  I was beyond excited when my dad asked if I wanted the journals that belonged to my Great Grandma Zella Swonger-Williams.  I couldn't wait to see them and the arrived today!  I was so excited to read them and get to know her.  She died when I was around 10 and she always seemed to serious to me.  I didn't know her that well, but that was my impression.  I haven't had a chance to read a lot, but from what I've read, it's so interesting seeing what her daily life was like.  Two entries stand out so far: Dec. 4, 1941 and Aug. 14, 1945, the day Japan surrendered.  It's fascinating to me!  I don't get how people don't know what a treasure these are.  They span from 1938-1975.  She wrote almost every day. Talk about dedication!  I can't wait to scour through them!

Announcement of Japan's surrender.

Entry from Dec. 7, 1941 (Bombing of Pearl Harbor).

Blowing Kisses

Someone's started blowing kisses!

Oops.  I posted the wrong video. Here's the blowing kisses video.

Piggie Tails

Ever since Ms. Becky at daycare put her hair in pigtails, it's my favorite way to keep Kathryn's hair out of her eyes.  She's in a bit of an awkward phase right now.  It's fine and wispy, but she's got a good deal of it. I was using barrettes, but they weren't staying in.  The piggie tails work great.  I'll get better pictures, but until then, my cruddy camera pics will have to do.

A Girl and Her Shoes

The littlest things make Kathryn happy.  She pulled my sneakers out of the closet yesterday and has been fascinated ever since.  Whatever makes her happy...

By the way...these were taken on a different day than the previous post.  She has three fleece pj's we rotate through.

Potty Pictures

As promised, here are the pictures of her sitting on the potty.  I swear she thinks it's a chair.  She hasn't peed in it since that one time.

Gibberish

Kathryn has the cutest little voice and I love listening to her gibberish.  Especially when she walks around saying "Gabba, gabba, gabba."

Easter Video

She just didn't understand the concept of putting the eggs in the basket and leaving them in there.  Next year will be better.
